Knitted Fabric Inspection Machines

Knitted fabrics are elastic and usually contain elastane. If such fabric is stretched during inspection, the width shifts, the metre reading becomes inaccurate and the fabric can be permanently deformed. For this reason knitted fabric inspection machines adjust tension automatically — the fabric runs in its natural state without constant operator intervention.

Greige knitted fabric inspection

Inspection before dyeing is carried out on machines with a closed top cabinet. UV lighting inside the cabinet makes barré, yarn variation and similar defects visible when they cannot be seen under normal light. Faulty areas are identified before the fabric enters the dyehouse, so dyeing and labour are not spent on material that will be rejected.

Dyed and finished fabric inspection

Dyed fabric is inspected in dyehouses and before garment making. Fabric can be fed from a trolley, in open width, from plaits or from a decatizing machine; once inspected it is wound into a roll. Inside or outside winding can be selected as required.

Tubular fabrics

Fabric coming off circular knitting machines is inspected without being opened: it enters the machine as a tube, both faces are examined, and it is rewound as a tube on the way out.

Platform winding

On front-winding machines the roll diameter is limited to about 450 mm. On platform models the winding is done behind the operator, so diameters of 450 mm and above are possible. This layout also allows the inspection line to feed a packing machine directly.
