Working together with the inspection line

Packing machines can be connected directly to the outfeed of fabric inspection and winding machines. With platform inspection machines in particular, the roll is transferred to the packing unit as soon as inspection finishes, removing intermediate handling and waiting.

Choosing textile packaging machines

When selecting a textile packaging machine, three factors decide the configuration: the number of rolls packed per day, the maximum roll diameter and the type of film used. A line sized for 40 rolls a day behaves very differently from one running several hundred, both in cycle time and in how much operator involvement it needs.

Hot-air edge sealing

The weak point of any wrapped roll is the open end. Hot-air sealing closes the film at both ends so the package does not open in transit — important for sea freight, where rolls are handled repeatedly and exposed to humidity. A properly sealed roll arrives in the same condition it left the plant.

Automatic roll handling

On a fully automatic fabric roll packaging machine the roll is tipped, wrapped, sealed and discharged without manual lifting. This matters most in dispatch areas, where heavy rolls otherwise occupy two operators and create a bottleneck at the end of the shift.

Film consumption and waste

Packaging film is a recurring cost, not a one-off one. Machines that measure the film to the roll diameter use noticeably less material than manual wrapping, where the operator tends to over-wrap to be safe. Over a year this difference is often the clearest saving an automatic packaging line produces.

Export packaging requirements

Buyers in different markets ask for different things: printed labels carrying metreage and lot data, a specific film thickness, or double sealing for long sea journeys. A packaging machine that accepts a label printer and allows film and sealing settings to be changed per order can meet these requests without a second line.
